I have no idea why people have found first date dressing so hard. I have 3 rules: be on time, be present and be clean. Remember you've already been asked on a date so that's around 70% of the work done. My one don't is never wear brand new clothes that you wouldn't normally feature in your closet. And finally, it is nice to ask the girls for advice but you are the one on the date (unless you are a total style disaster), follow your instinct.
This outfit is for a friend who has a date to a wine-bar, late in the afternoon, and in a vibrant city. I think it should be low-key as many man aren't bothered with the latest trends and if anything they are baffled and slightly frightened of them. (Imagine walking in to meet your date in thigh high velvet boots and a fur gilet). Wonderful on the pages of glossy magazines but it doesn't quite translate on a first date.
The lady in question is a UK 10 (US 6, EUR 36), 5"5, with a medium bust and frame. I wanted to keep her looking sexy but in a subtle way, hence the little black number which can also be layered over trousers, stockings or leggings. I added the mid-heel to keep it comfortable, chic and in the red colour for interest, sexiness and allure. After all it is a date.
Great Advice! Thanks Girlfriend!!
