Items of the Week

I don't know what it is about these beautiful cardigans but they are so effortless to style up. Both from Monsoon which is wonderful as this is something I haven't seen done at Monsoon previously. I see myself rocking this look with either a crisp look long-sleeved white t-shirt and some really cute grey skinny jeans and of course boots. Since boots are just everywhere. They really are everywhere. How would you wear it?

Lust After

I'm not afraid of being a jeans and t-shirt gal but I have reservations about looking to much like somebody else simply because that's not me. So how do I combine my basic get-up with my personal style? I add on a lust after item. Not familiar? If I see something in a store that will make me envious seeing another person wearing it so I have to buy it and wear it immediately to deter people in a 5 mile radius from purchasing it also. Moreover, adding one more item to a very simple outfit has almost zero effort, it does not take a lot to look good. Ever.

On the hot side of cool

Remember seeing a really hot looking girl in a great outfit and thinking to yourself, "Where does she even shop?!". I found a store that this kind of girl may frequent. Pixie Market. Its an online store which caters for urban kids, indie kids, punk kids, street kids, high fashion gals and downright snazzy dressers alike. A bonus is that all prices are in US dollars and international shipping is FREE. My favourite word after shoe. Here are some of my top looks. Click on an item to view further or purchase...

Going once, going twice....SOLD

I was recently asked to pull a look together for a woman who is 5"8, UK size 12 (US 8, EUR 38), with small bust, a very narrow waist and some of the longest legs I have ever seen. The even was an annual charity affair, fun but still a little conservative. I had the option of balancing her silhouette or showcasing her amazing legs. I chose the legs. To pull off semi-conservative I decided to use black and white which should be your first go to if you are ever unsure as to the nature of the event but I also had to bear in mind that my lady friend was extremely vivacious therefore she needed something to make her pop.
This tunic caught my eye as reminded me of Dries van Noten and it was long enough to wear as a dress but the question was how to make it a complete look...

In my mind I thought I would combine a Dries van Noten-esque garment with a blazer she had been trying to style for the last fortnight. I chose a mid-heel (her legs do not need a great deal of height) that were simple in colour but great to look at. Accessories were kept down to a minimum of great earrings and a nice ring. (Oh and we completely got rid of that silk belt that came attached to the tunic) .

Black Out at H & M

Buzzwords for Autumn/Winter have never pleased me so much: Grunge, Rocker, Goth, Leather and Bad-Girl. Again one-stop shopping is a frequent hobby of mine so I took my always in a hurry self to H & M and here's what I found. Black. Plenty of black. Here is one of my favourite ladies rocking out blacked-out. I guess this is Diane Kruger giving the middle finger to anybody who ever called black boring.

Item of the Week

Need something to cocoon in this winter? Stay stylish and cosy in this fantastic scarf collar wool-mix, mid-length coat (155.00) from Kookai. No fussy layers with a scarf, cardigan and a coat just this one lovely piece. I still don't know how every winter people need a new coat but since the concept of this coat is so great, it wont hurt to have it in your wardrobe. Click on the image to view or buy...

Dita Von Teese for Wonderbra

Ms. Von Teese is rolling out her second collection for Wonderbra. She has compiled a selection of highly glamorous and seductive vintage inspired lingerie, supported by breath-taking photographs. If there is anything this woman knows besides putting on a good show its great underwear. Many of the pieces re-call the high femininity of the 40s and 50s available in sumptuous jewel colours (I have my eye on that waspie). Moreover, she knows her market as the collection is only available in Europe. Dita, I personally salute you.
